Become a member of Crocus Cafe

In the past, the directors have been the only official members of The Crocus Cafe Ltd. This has mostly worked OK, but there has always been the potential for problems about who Crocus actually belongs to, who gets a say in running it, and how the board are held to account for their decisions.

To improve accountability and give people a greater say in how Crocus is run,  we now offer membership to anybody with an interest in Crocus, including all volunteers.  Because Crocus is a “limited liability” company, this means that every member takes on responsibility for paying £1 (yes, one pound) in the unlikely event that the Company has to be wound up while owing money.

Hopefully this will be the start of improving how volunteers are involved in Crocus, have a stake in it and have a real voice in how it is run.

Please note that membership is not the same as “Friends of Crocus” or any similar scheme that has been run in the past, and at the moment there would not be any perks for members (but it  costs nothing to join). (The Company may decide in future that members could get discounts, loyalty bonus etc. if they thought that was appropriate.)
